Birthday Fiesta

If you haven't ever been to El Rancho Grande on 11th, stop what you're doing and go NOW.  Then, grab a green card at check out and join the birthday club!  I enjoyed my free birthday lunch with my coworkers today, and it was fantastic, as always.

Funny story about Rancho... When Dad was in college (35 years before I ever started going to Rancho), he drove a meat delivery truck.  El Rancho Grande was one of his stops.  He went inside while making a routine delivery one morning, and when he returned to his truck, he found a young Hispanic man in the back stealing meat.  Dad was, of course, responsible for all of the meat in the truck, so if some went missing or undelivered, he was responsible for replacing it.  The sight of something costing him money didn't sit well, so after they stared at each other for several awkward seconds, Dad just shut the back door, got behind the wheel, and drove the refrigerated meat truck to the police station.  He says he's felt bad about it ever since.  "He was probably just trying to feed his family," Dad says.  Probably true, but not at the expense of college Dad's beer money!
