US Open Extravaganza

I know this is several weeks overdue, but the pics are still just as much fun!  Here are a few shots from Mom's and my trip to the Big Apple for some FANTASTIC tennis!

First, we went for lunch and mimosas at the Southside Seaport.  That's the Brooklyn Bridge... we think.

The NY Stock Exchange was just a block from our hotel.

Construction of the monument at Ground Zero.  Also just a block from us.

St. Paul's: The church that remained unharmed in the attacks on 9/11.  It housed many of the rescue workers during the recovery efforts.

The Broadway Theater from "Promises, Promises" with JUST JACK!

Fresh off the train to Flushing headed to the tennis center!

 WOOHOO!!

Match 1: Sam Stosur

Several shots from Center Court...

The Mets

John Blake v some Serbian that I should know

Jeter and Lyla were there

This statue stood in front of the World Trade Center.  It was damaged 9/11 and moved to Battery Park nearby.

WWII memorial.  I thought it was beautiful.

This is the closest we got to the Statue of Liberty

And this is as close as we got to the Yankees.

It was a GREAT trip!  Saw cool things, visited family, and witnessed some really great tennis!  Thanks to everyone who helped us get there.  Until next time, NYC...

US Open Bound!

My beautiful Mother Teresa (no, it is not a coincidence that is her name) turned 50 last year, and our family helped me give her a super cool trip to the US Open!  We've been planning since December, and we are leaving tomorrow!  Mom loves tennis almost as she loves us, and we are going to have a great time.  On the agenda is 2 days at the Open, a Yankees game, "Just Jack!" and Kristin Chenoweth, mini-Denzinger family reunion, and some shopping, I'm sure.  If I have to miss a game in Norman, I can't think of a better reason!  See you suckers at Florida State.

Saturday with the Crazies and Sunday Morning Grub

Nick and I combined our stuff a few weeks ago and ended up with a garage full of furniture we didn't want (or have a place for).  We decided that, rather than haul it all to Good Will, we would try to make a few bucks... then haul it all to Good Will.  So we put an ad in the paper and set an alarm for 6:00 am... on a SATURDAY!  The garage sale crazies showed up an hour before we had announced the sale would start and didn't stop coming until an hour after we loaded up with the truck with the leftovers.  I snapped a few shots of the driveway pre- and mid-sale.

Preparation the night before

Early morning

Our signs were really obnoxious

We made a little cash and immediately spent it on new surround sound and dinner and drinks with great friends.  I felt bad that Nick didn't get any studying done, so I decided to make breakfast on Sunday.

This was most certainly needed.

Monkey bread.  DUH!

(Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls, rolled into balls, rolled in butter, rolled in cinnamon and sugar, and baked.  If that doesn't sound awesome to you, get the heck out!)

Needed something healthy in this meal. Enter: bacon.

DING! Monkey bread is done!

The aroma woke Nick up, and he fried us some eggs.

Breakfast of champions!

Now... on with the rest of our week!  Lots of good stuff going on here.
